All About The Poppy Studio

Welcome to our new blog! My name is Jenny. I am the owner of The Poppy Studio. The Poppy Studio began many years ago with a coworker and great friend, Becky Roberts. We bonded over late night wedding work, Super Tramp and a love of flowers. It was clear pretty quickly that we worked well together and had a great time too. Both being California natives with a love of this beautiful state The Poppy Studio was a name we both felt represented our backgrounds and artistic sensibilities. Together we built an incredible foundation for the future.
Becky has since moved on to become a mom and an assemblage artist based in Montana, and The Poppy Studio entered a quieter chapter. I continued designing weddings and events, taking on a select number each year and keeping the creative heart of the studio very much alive. While the pace was intentionally smaller—typically ten to fourteen events a year—the passion for thoughtful floral design never went away.
Over time, the idea of what The Poppy Studio could become began to grow. What had primarily been a wedding and event studio started to feel ready for something more: a permanent home, a retail presence, and the opportunity to create flowers not just for life’s biggest celebrations, but for the everyday moments in between. That next chapter eventually led us to Orange, where The Poppy Studio acquired Orange County Florist, an established neighborhood flower shop with its own long history in the community. It gave us the opportunity to put down roots, expand into everyday flowers and gifting, and create a home for The Poppy Studio—all while continuing the wedding and event work that has always been at the heart of what we do.
My love of flowers has always extended well beyond my work. There are almost always flowers in my home, and I never tire of the awe and beauty of what Mother Nature creates. My home never feels like home until a sufficient number of plants also occupy the space, and when I travel, i tend to come back with more photos of plants and flowers than anything else.
